Hello [[contact.first_name]],
Next week at Ragna’s Table, we move from the rustic comfort of Romanian home cooking to the bright, herb-filled flavors of Palestine—two meals centered around nourishment, balance, and deeply satisfying ingredients prepared with care.
Tuesday, June 9th brings Ciorbă de Varză, a Romanian cabbage soup served with warm chifle rolls. Built on a savory broth with cabbage, vegetables, herbs, and carefully layered seasoning, the soup develops richness and depth through slow simmering while remaining balanced and restorative. Served alongside are warm Romanian-style chifle rolls, adding softness and warmth to the meal. Tuesday’s meal includes a complimentary surprise dessert,
and organic sourdough English muffin sandwich bread is available separately for those who would like to add it to their table.
Thursday, June 11th brings Palestinian Sumac Chicken with Whipped Feta, Flatbread, and Fresh Herb Salad. The chicken is seasoned with fragrant sumac, creating a bright, citrusy depth that pairs naturally with creamy whipped feta and warm flatbread. Alongside it is a fresh herb salad filled with greens and vibrant flavor, bringing freshness and balance to the plate. Thursday’s dinner also includes a complimentary surprise dessert.
I can’t wait to cook for you.
Warmly, Ragna ❤️

Ciorbă de Varză — Romanian Cabbage Soup with Chifle Roll (includes complimentary surprise dessert)
|
Immerse yourself in the rustic, deeply comforting flavors of Romanian vegetarian home cooking with this Hearty Vegetarian Ciorbă de Varză (Romanian Cabbage Soup) with Warm Homemade Chifle Rolls, a nourishing, soul-warming meal built around humble ingredients that transform into something deeply satisfying. Tender green cabbage is slowly simmered with onions, carrots, and potatoes in a lightly tangy tomato-infused vegetable broth, finished with fresh dill and a gentle touch of
acidity that brightens and lifts each spoonful. The result is a vegetarian soup that is both grounding and vibrant, with natural sweetness from slow-cooked vegetables and the signature tang that defines traditional Romanian ciorbă.
Each bowl delivers a thoughtful balance of nourishment and plant-based comfort: cabbage provides fiber, vitamin C, and beneficial phytonutrients that support digestion and immune health; carrots and tomatoes contribute antioxidants such as beta-carotene and lycopene, supporting cellular protection and overall vitality; and potatoes add slow-digesting carbohydrates that create lasting satisfaction without heaviness. Fresh dill, a hallmark of Romanian cooking, brings aromatic
brightness while also supporting digestive ease, tying the entire soup together with a clean, herbal finish.
Accompanying the soup is a soft, golden Homemade Chifle (Romanian Country Roll), baked until lightly crisp on the outside and tender within. Made simply with flour, water, yeast, and salt, these traditional vegetarian rolls embody the essence of Romanian bakery bread—rustic, unfussy, and comforting. Its airy crumb and gentle chew make them perfect for soaking up the tangy cabbage broth, while their warm, freshly baked aroma enhances the grounding, home-style feel of the
meal.
This dish invites a restorative vegetarian dining experience where slow-simmered cabbage soup and freshly baked rolls come together in harmony. It celebrates the simplicity and wisdom of Romanian peasant cooking—where vegetables are the foundation, flavor is built patiently, and nourishment is both honest and deeply satisfying. Every spoonful and every bite is designed to feel warming, balanced, and quietly abundant.
I can’t wait to cook this for you!

Palestinian Sumac Chicken with Whipped Feta, Flatbread & Fresh Herb Salad (includes complimentary surprise dessert)
|
This meal is rooted in the bright, sun-warmed flavors of the Levant, drawing inspiration from Palestinian home cooking where sumac, slow-cooked onions, olive oil, and bread form the foundation of shared meals. It reflects a style of cooking that is generous and layered, but still
grounded in simple, seasonal ingredients that balance richness with freshness.
At the center is roasted sumac chicken with Meyer lemon and jammy onions, cooked alongside potatoes that absorb the spiced pan juices as they roast. Bone-in chicken thighs are seasoned with sumac, garlic, olive oil, and herbs, then baked until the skin is deeply golden and the meat remains tender and juicy. Sumac provides a tart, almost fruity acidity that softens the richness of the chicken, while slow-roasted onions break down into a sweet, savory
base that carries the spices throughout the dish. The potatoes roast in the same pan, soaking up chicken fat, lemon, and onion juices, becoming crisp at the edges and deeply flavorful within. Meyer lemon adds a gentle floral citrus note that lifts the entire dish without harshness.
Alongside is whipped feta, a creamy, tangy element that adds contrast to the warm roasted components. Feta provides protein and calcium, and when blended with yogurt or olive oil, it becomes light and airy while still holding its natural saltiness. This cooling, dairy-rich element helps balance the acidity and spice of the chicken while adding a smooth, rich texture to each bite.
Flatbread is served at room temperature as a soft, neutral base for the meal. It is used to scoop up chicken, potatoes, whipped feta, and roasted onions, absorbing the juices from the pan. Rather than being the focus, it functions as a structural element that brings everything together and makes the meal feel communal and abundant.
The tomato and cucumber salad brings freshness and contrast, with juicy tomatoes, crisp cucumbers, herbs, lemon, and olive oil. This raw component adds hydration, fiber, and vitamin C, while its acidity cuts through the richness of the roasted chicken and potatoes. Fresh mint and parsley add aromatic brightness that echoes the herbs used throughout the dish.
Together, the meal reflects a balance of slow-roasted depth and fresh, raw brightness: savory sumac chicken, sweet roasted onions, tender potatoes, creamy feta, and crisp vegetables. It is a cohesive, layered meal designed for sharing, where each element plays a clear role in keeping the overall experience vibrant, balanced, and satisfying.
I can’t wait to cook this for you!
